Friday Full of Fun, Fearless, Fabulous Females
Join KXY this Sunday at noon for a radio special: "She Was Country When Country Wasn't Cool: A Tribute to Barbara Mandrell". Listen in as some of country's biggest stars, like Reba, Kenny Chesney, Gretchen Wilson, and Dierks Bentley, sing Mandrell classics and talk about the influence of this legendary entertainer.
Today, I'm previewing the special by playing some cuts from the Barbara Mandrell tribute cd, in stores now. I hope you enjoy the music today, and the special on Sunday. Remember, "you can eat crackers in my bed anytime"! ;)

And I'd like to wish a very Happy Birthday to an Oklahoma musical icon: the great Wanda Jackson. They don't make lives like Wanda's anymore: touring with and dating Elvis, and introducing classic songs like "Right Or Wrong" and "Let's have A Party". She is truly one of the original Queens of Rock & Roll. Best Wishes, Wanda!
The one and only Wanda Jackson!

If you're sleep-deprived due to staying up for the Bears/Cardinals game last night, you're not alone. Well-worth staying up for. Glad my Bears came out on top. But you have to feel bad for Arizona. They played so hard, really deserved the win, but didn't get it. Matt Leinart was brilliant, and cool down the stretch. Certainly didn't play like a rookie. Meanwhile, I was ready to throttle the Bears' reckless young QB. Apparently, it didn't occur to anyone on the Bears' coaching staff to grab him by the facemask and tell him to go for short yardage, to quit throwing to the same receiver every time, and, basically, "If you throw deep again, you're outta here!" Grossman showed very poor decision-making, poor passing, and folded under the Cardinals' defensive pressure. It is no thanks to him that the Bears won. And Chicago's O-line was manhandled on national tv. They're gonna be mighty embarrassed, watching film today. I usually hate bye weeks, but am glad they have some time to hopefully get the offense back together.
